Chief Technologist at Humax, Bob Hannent, says it’s going to be 15-20 years for 3D TV to become mainstream.

He’s right of course.

You may be able to walk into a shop today and actually buy 3D kit. But only the die hard technology geeks are going to part with extra cash for 3D features. And we’re not talking just ‘add-on’ cash, because you can’t just add 3D to your existing home cinema. We’re talking replacement TV and DVD player, both at a premium 3D prices.

And as Humax Bob put it “Do people really care about 3D TV?”

But in time when 3D is just a small bullet point on the side of all HDTV boxes, you might find yourself watching the odd 3D broadcast without ever intending to buy into it.

Humax are the leading manufacturers when it comes to Freesat receivers. Their Foxsat HDR 500 is still the leader of the pack after 2 years.
