YouView Off to Ofcom (Thanks Virgin)

Well one of them had to. Sky are still considering their position, but Virgin Media has now filed a complaint with Ofcom. Virgin are claiming YouView (Project Canvas) is an “anti-competitive cartel”.
The OFT previously cleared the joint venture in May this year, but this next tactic was not entirely unexpected.
Ofcom will now make a decision within the next 2 months as to whether they should launch a full Competition Act inquiry. Menawhile YouView are thankfully free to continue progress towards a launch.
A spokesperson for Project Canvas said they expect to be discussing the grounds for the complaint with Ofcom, but that their proposals remain unchanged.
